Located in the center of Tampa Bay on the Interbay Peninsula, this Air Force Base is home to the 6th Air Mobility Wing, which prides it’s self on precision and timely response, as well as having one of the best locations in the world for it’s personnel. The center of Tampa is eight miles north and the ease of access to a civilian airport, as well as the city itself gives the Airmen a simple four minute drive to pick up visiting relatives. Married personnel also have a wide range of living options in the Tampa metro area that many couples do not. If you are lucky enough to be deployed with the 6th, or a contractor working with the base, this could not be any better.

Take a look along the shores. There are places that are within minutes of the beach, either by car or even walking! That is one way to beat the stress of being on duty at the base. As soon as your duty shift ends, you can hit the beach and become a true beach ape without having to spend more money than it takes to stop off and grab a cooler full of cold ones!
