Homosassa Springs started experiencing considerable growth in the early 1900s when the train came through. Here, the passengers would enjoy a meal and fresh spring water. This city, which is home to 12,000 water-loving apes, houses an observation area where you can enjoy the West Indian manatees at your leisure.
Recently the State of Florida purchase Homosassa Springs wildlife State Park so that it could be protected. This park offers 50 acres of natural beauty that you and the little apes should thoroughly enjoy. Or, if you prefer pack up the golf clubs and hit Sugarmill Woods Country club with over 3,500 yards of courses.
Interesting fact: the only place in the world where salt water and fresh water fish mingle is right here in the Homosassa River.
By the way, if you’re in the market for real estate Homosassa Springs has some really great offerings that come complete with the wonders of Florida’s coast.
